I was well impressed by these simple geometric forms at Serpentine Green in Peterborough, Christmas decs with a lot of style & simplicity.
Had a real good chin-wag with this 86 year-old Liverpudlian as I drew his portrait. He`d recently lost his wife and felt lost and didn`t know how to fill the days. As happens so often as I go around shopping centres, it can be humbling to hear peoples stories.
It was a real pleasure to draw a caricature of a real Town Crier - Anthony Church at Serpentine Green shopping centre in Peterborough during Christmas festivities there.

I love to draw those who have lived a while, not only do they sit (usually) very still but their faces seem to give a hint of a long life lived. This man has a strong angular head, leonine hair. he sat so well I couldn`t miss!

This photo was taken by someone passing as I was working at Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware, North London on Sunday 28th July. I like the way it was taken (by Dean Gold) as it has both of the sisters I was drawing in colour pastels.

It`s fun and scary at the same time, like working without a safety net, when you are well in control and `in the zone` the drawings seem to come effortlessly, though of course I am working like the devil!
The ladies were celebrating the 80th birthday that day of the mother, they got in early at 8am before any crowds.

Doing my favourite thing, drawing an endless queue of people wanting to sit for me in a shopping centre at the weekend. Most of them sit like statues for approx` 20 minutes, here`s some from a weekend at Broadwalk, Edgeware, north London.

I thought this gentleman was telling tall stories when he told me that he was building a house in Jamaica with 72 windows & 18 roofs! The reason is that it is such a stormy place and the small roofs help to hold the place together. He has a video on YouTube to show the amazing structure.
