New Video!

This is a caricature I did of a young Dutch man at The Guildhall Shopping Centre in Stafford in November 2012.

Tuesday 13 November 2012

This man was a pleasure to draw, he sat very still and had exactly the sort of head shape I find easier to work from , strong angular bold features, big, deep-set eyes.

Same young man, two different approaches.
Here`s a double colour pastel portrait of 2 good-looking brothers who could be snapped up for a boy band in a few years time. I went a bit wild with their hair.

Here are some of  portraits done over the last few weeks, great variety of people, what characters!
Nationalities include - Ukrainian, Rumanian, Polish, Saudi Arabian & er.. English!

This lovely Chinese girl sat for a quick charcoal portrait at the end of the day just before the shopping centre closed in Luton, I was tired and at first tried to put her off,  but when she pleaded that she would be leaving by plane the next day. I gave in & was glad I did as she was very grateful, even though the portrait had a tired look about it!

After completing this charcoal portrait of her friend Emma Gibson at the Mall in Luton , Rebecca Harris was moved to give it the highest praise - `It`s the dogs bollocks!`

Monday 9 July 2012

Just one of the rich & varied people who pass by me in a London shopping centre & stop off for a quick portrait or caricature, this young man is a member of the London Road Rats, which is a bit like the Hells Angels.

These candid shots were taken by a student of photography at The Mall in Luton while I was busy one Saturday afternoon. I like his style, the spontaneity, the saturated colour, so much better than posed photos.

This young man gets first prize for the best sitter of the year, he remained completely immobile for the 20 minutes it took me to do this sketch.

Wednesday 9 May 2012

This is a charcoal I did from a beautiful photo of a lovely girl from Banladesh named Meher. She is the sweetheart of the young man who gave me the job - Mehedi, studying in London.

Two charcoal portraits I drew live at The Treaty Centre in Hounslow. Both real gentleman from Rumania.
The spiky one Alex Szakacs, I got pretty good, the one with the cap Ionui Martac, I succeeded with the features but got the shape of his head wrong, the cap is too big which lead to the mistakes that followed with the top of the head too large and the jaw area too pointed. If he is reading this blog, please get in touch and arrange another sitting - at half-price! So that I can have another go.
